sev doesn't see what is wrong with the way slaves are tested for silks now. they are tested based on serves and such..
a test would most likely chase many away, making it seem more like work or school than fun which is what it should be.

kanda{GS}~~~ kanda has seen this done on another site she has visited.. and was quite impressed.. for each color of silks a slave had to know various things.. most of the slaves who come into the tavern are serious about gor..their hearts are in it.. but we all know there are some who are gamers..and come to play and not learn.. if they were expected to learn different things before getting silks and having the pleasure of serving All.. then maybe they would either stay to learn or leave..

I think jasma does a superb job heading up the slave discussion classes and getting the girls to name and describe ojects/slave livery, etcetera, from what I've read of those notes. *shrugs*

SabreWolf's sevda~~~ gamers are usually weeded out quickly anyway. being a slave is very hard. there is so much learn just to be able to serve the various drinks and food correctly. learning all of that already shows an interest to learn on the slaves part.

with respect.. personally owned slaves are tested the way their Owners wish.. the GS slaves have their own list of things that are needed to be learned.. it's not just dance.. just that is what many will focus on..
and yes.. kanda.. other sites the girls have to know more than the beverages... food.. positions.. and such.. but there are many that even though the information is available here that don't know all the food items.. or the drinks.. etc..
can't force a person to do something that they truly don't wish to do.. and even assignments that have been given out at various times.. weren't done..

marissa{HoS}~~~ adding more to the reds test would be fitting to her mind as it is almost a repeat of the yellow with just a few more questions. and how many sister know of the other things besides dance that they can do? as in their talent. one was the first in a long time that was playing instruments and that was only because she asked if slaves were allow this. she had thought that it was only for Mistress's or Masters. and the same goes with healing. not many sisters deal with that either?

Asellus~~~ So we need to branch out in a way. That's partially the reason slaves exist--to assist the Free. I've seen Physician's assistants and even Dressmaker's or Merchant's assistants. It seems as if one reaches the proverbial "red silk" status...it's all about dancing and nothing more. Why aren't the slaves allowed to aid their Owners in their Castes more?

I understand the difficulty many experience in trying to acquire them, and that makes the forums sooo important....but I'm personally a bit turned off when someone dismisses the books so readily.

I see nothing wrong with pushing the boundaries a bit as long as it is consistent with the general framework. For instance, a while back I helped to build a paper mill in Schendi. That isn't completely supported by the books, but the technology level is there.

Asellus~~~ What with all the other forums though? Let's see, Marius recently began having a book discussion once a week, which is an excellent idea. And then there's the Sunday forums for those who try to religiously attend. Of course, Monday forums....and Wednesday forums for slaves....Thursdays are for the Men....and FW on Tuesdays.
I honestly don't see it going over too well. The festival made a grand example of such. But then again, with a greater extent of time it could become something good.....
