Alright folks, first topic: Should slaves travel alone, without a Free person along, to places that would realistically be very far flung from their VT homes...say a slave of Treve for example visiting a site set in Port Kar, or maybe the Tahari...Let's hear your thoughts folks, then I'll share mine

well...topaz thinks "realistically" it could not happen or be possible...slaves don't travel first of all...and the distances would be ridiculous.... however....and topaz would like to stress this.....this is VT, so distance means not, looking at it that way

girl thinks slaves shouldnt travel without a Master or Mistress to take them via tarn ship wagon or whatever, we are slaves we choose nothing, why should we have the right to travel? but it is fun *giggleing as she remembers many trips with Mistress* belle would travel all the time with Mistress if she was allowed to

my slave personas have never really traveled from home on their own too much. it didn't seem very realistic to me and i was never sure how i'd get from say Port Kar to Ar on my own.
so unless someone from my home was in another city i just wouldn't enter most of the time

VT has no boundaries, so anything can and does happen. To be realistic in r/p I often wonder how slaves use various animals, that only males can tame and handle as tranportation.
In my opinion unless a slave is under instruction of owners then traveling alone is not permitted as they are property and gor is a dangerous place

Wwe ahould all atrive to keep gor true..and it would therefore be unusual for a slve to travel either without her Owner or her Owners permission..though the vt environment does mitigate as topaz suggests. Still I know I tend to avoid a slave who I find taking the site grand tour

aye sis farah...but not many a Master is going to waste guards on a slave...8winks*... and the reality of some travel would not be realistic or possible distance wise, depending on how serious the person is about Gor....*laughs*

what is the problem of slaves traveling? ~ is it that it doesn't keep a room "alive" or is it that she might be tempted to stay away? ~ traveling slaves can create some good play between rooms and sites (i.e. capture, etc)

May not be realistic to travel to all the places we do as Fre much less as slaves.. but people do it and I don't see it stopping

but Master Blade, tis not really NPCs per say... topaz thinks farah means more that the guards escorted the slave to the city and tavern, whatever... like a Free Woman enters and says the same type thing...leaving her escort of gurads at the door, She enters...

alright....well, as I see it, slaves traveling on online Gor isn't unusual to me, or to my mind really that big of a deal except for when those slaves wander away from their home with the intention of stirring up trouble, or because they have chosen to disregard their home to the point that they wish to leave it, but don't have the decency to do so correctly...IE: begging for release, or sale to someone of the new place they wish to go.
As for realism...c'mon folks, Gor is the creation of John Norman's philosophical ideas, and vivid (though not always very elequent) imagination. Realism really has no place in it...but..to keep Gor AS real as is possible, sure, restricting slaves to their home might be one way to go about it...but the question I have would be...how is it that ANYONE travels on online Gor, especially when several different sites may be set in the same city, but at different periods in time...I mean...do we now have a bunch of time travelers? No, we simply have online Gor...a free-form RP environment for those of us who are interested in Gor, and in the Gorean Style of the M/s relationship, and in the principles upon which Norman based his novels...s

ohhhh i've never thought of the different time periods. most rooms i've been to don't clearly state what time period they are in. could leave one place a young slave and end up in another place set in a time before you even born ~giggling~

*chuckles* Well, ok, so maybe that's not a great summation, so let me be more detailed.....all it takes is for one person to get a bug up their ass about something or another....then they begin doing what you've all stated as a quick way to kill a site...however, that's not all...you see someone of that ilk has no power but the power that others give to them....so, say Bad Apple #1 begins whispering lies, rumors, and half truths to anyone that will listen...some take that as gospel, either because they do not know any better, do not care enough to find out the truth for themselves, or might have some gripe of their own, and so, throw in with the bad apple, because it suits their own personal goals.....and then you have those few who reject such idiocy out of hand, no matter how temptingly believable it may be, and go about forming their own opinions on said lies, rumors or half truths, and then decide which to believe and which to reject completely....the unfortunate thing is that even the most rational, fair person can sometimes be led to the wrong conclusion....so even with good people, intelligent people, and honorable people, a Bad Apple can still spoil the bunch....such bad apples, at times can be very subtle, and can make even the most rediculous things sound reasonable...if they're skilled...

currently the only rules we have concerning assassins, farah are the same rules GS has had since it's inception. Those being that Assassins who enter, attacking someone in order to carry out their mark will be (or should be, can't remember the exact way Xern stated it) summarily laughed out of the tavern...and that they must follow our Battle rules as stated in the homepages....and there are specific rules where Assassins are concerned within our battle rules..but it's pretty much the same as that for Warriors, except that in a battle between an Assassin and someone else (no matter what caste the chosen mark may be) the Assassin will get the first attack....as opposed to the Challengee who usually gets the first attack...
