There is a full menu in the tavern, so people obviously have the choice, but a drink is probably just the first thing that pops in their mind.
I'm not sure how we encourage others to broaden their horizons, unless we, by we I mean "we" in here right now, lead by example.

* MY * opinion on this subject is exactly what Bhoamir stated... It falls to the MASTERS to call for different serves rather than always just taking the * quick and/or easy * way... it seems silly to Me that the kajira be required to know HOW to serve all the varied items, and yet almost never be asked to DO so... besides, is it not the FREE that decides what THEY want, and then it is up to the slaves to fulfill said desire ????

Another OUTSTANDING point, liriel..... that way that * I * would put it is this.... ** if a free is going to ask for a serve JUST to kill time or look important, then what the HELL is the use ??? If a Free asks for ANY serve..be it a drink, or a dance, then BY THE GODS !!! they should be willing to TAKE the time to WATCH the WHOLE thing... and not just do so then lose attention or sit there like some lump of clay......

People should realize the work that goes in for a slave to give a good serve.
And the purpose of the serve isn't to get some fake drink, or some food that will leave you hungry.
The purpose of the serve is really about interaction, which is a two way street.

That's a good point Rollo.
I see a difference between a half hearted serve, and the serve of a new girl that has not completed her training.
A half hearted serve should be corrected immediately. In my mind, that is a girl that is trained, but doesn't have the right attitude.
A new girl, with little training or experience should be cut a bit of slack. Of course, her mistakes should be corrected, but she should be encouraged on her good points.
Of course, that requires the Free to understand what is required in a serve, and what a good serve is.

I've also seen it taken to the extreme, where a girl wrote a beautiful serve, very detailed, very descriptive.
Her posts took maybe 2 or 3 minutes each to right, which is perfectly acceptable in my eyes.
Yet, she was reprimanded rather harshly for taking too long. I spoke with the FM, who was new, and he basically had the mis-guided notion that he was supposed to try to find something wrong, and that was the best he could do.
