alright topaz...we can talk about that. Let me see, what's happening. The Lady let herself be lured, by Haplo into a dangerous area, thinking that the other FW and slaves with her would be enough to keep the Man from capturing her. She was wrong. Blade attempted to ransom her and his ransom was accepted, but due to some miscommunication, Blade left, and the Lady stayed, and was re-captured.

now, as for being re-captured...as I understand it, and my information is by no means official, Blade paid the original ransom, and then posted leaving with the Lady. Kayla, as I understand, knows that in the room in which this ocurred, force posts are not acknowledged, and so, did not leave when he did...but instead posted that she watched as Blade left without her. So, Haplo simply recaptured her, and posted to the JAG board that he was taking bids for her...and she has been held by Haplo since then

The last time I checked, the ransom bidding war had pushed the price up to about 11,000 double weight gold Tarns....though Im also hearing that the price is now 20K instead of 11, and that somehow, Blade has come up with the money somehow...though Im not sure if that much money even exists in one place, but since John Norman wrote that it happened ONE time I guess now everyone on online Gor has that kind of money....and so, Blade apparently is there now, paying the ransom to bring the Lady home

Oh, I would think it would hvae to be more than one...at least a hundred or so, maybe a couple hundred, Shadowhawk...but then as was discussed in the Sunday forum last night, different places, have different values set upon money, so I guess JAG has a whole 'nother view of what a double weight gold is worth....I know that I personally adhere to Norman's statement that 5 gold tarns would be a fortune and that a man could live comfortably off that the rest of his life.

Well, topaz, you have touched upon a very interesting subject on that note. Should we go fight to rescue her...? Hrmmm....well, I imagine so, however, she's being held in a no kill no capture zone. That's the first issue. Second issue is that officially, since it's inception, GS has been and IMO I hope it STAYS a neutral zone. The original council made it so, because they did not wish for the drama of other sites to spill over into GS...though Im sure they did not forsee, GS being populated by people who would WANT such drama, as some of our Patrons seem to.
That said, IF we did so, we would be violating our own policies, so, it then falls to the Lady's protectors. I am one of those, and I have not, and here are MY reasons for not doing so. First, I warned the Lady not to travel. I told her, after the last incident with problems that happened, IF she landed into trouble again I would not come to save her, as doing so, of late has become a full time job, and frankly I don't have time to constantly run interference for the Lady. It's hard enough as it is to take care of GS let alone having to rescue people or try to serve as peacekeeper between people all the time. Blade is also one of the Lady's protectors, and it seems as though he's handling things just fine

And though the Lady may not have MEANT to get captured...she took a chance, that she knew she ought not to take, with a person she should have known not to trust, and she lost. I personally live under the impression that one must deal with the consequences for one's own actions, and they have no one to blame but themselves....

once more, topaz.....GS is neutral until such time as the Council votes to change that policy...and unless Rollo has changed his mind since he and Xern and Belial and Kli-Kodesh instituted that rule, I don't think it's going to change...as I support the neutrality. That means, that if Rollo still supports the neutrality, and I do...even if Thorfinn disagree's...it's a 2 to 1 vote against changing it. However, IF Rollo HAS changed his mind, and Thorfinn also wishes to change it, then it will be changed regardless of my feelings on it

*chuckles* topaz. Neutrality means we do not raid other Gorean sites, we're neutral. We don't impose ourselves into someone elses playground, and they don't impose themselves into ours. Xern was very strongly opinionated about that. Raids lead to hard feelings, hard feelings lead to skirmishes, skirmishes lead to warfare, and war leads to ooc harrassment after a while...I don't disagree that RP and the like should happen....but I personally am at a loss as to how to do that, without inviting all the negative aspects that come along with it.
