The girl has been given her yellow silks, therefore she is deemed to be proficient in serving to the yellow silk level, no longer needs the "protection" of the white silk.
But she has yet to have her first usage auctioned and so therefore that valued "gift" has yet to be won.
To flicka's mind the girl should serve will all fire and heat of a yellow silk, but she MUST NOT lap or fur, her serving thus will inflame her desire and also excite all of the Free Men, for They will be seeing what a hot and needy, sexually alive girl she is. Then she is auctioned and fireworks will fill the skies.

So as I´m concerened I live well with the exsting habit to make sure about a slaves restructions when I don´t know them. As any personal owned slave can not just summoned to an alcove it is for Me with not opened yellow silks, they have an restriction that has to be watched.
No problem for Me when they kneel in nadu - like restricte personally owned slaves.
Rules must be clear for slaves ... Free are challanged to think a bit abut such things because They don´t have to stick so strictly to rules.

Sheadon, that would be hard to do, as inn the books, folks are BORN into a Caste, and by the time they reach Adulthood are full members. And as I said, the processed of achieving higher positions within each caste follow rules of that particular caste, and are not revealed to Non-Caste Members.
