Okay... what everybody needs to remember is that in any society that conforms to a * caste * system... movement between or within any caste is almost unheard of.... that is the basic reason for having castes... to keep people bound within their inherent social level...

I think if one wants to change caste as example a leather worker to a warrior then I would imagine they would need apply to Council for caste change... as they would be moving from lower class to a higher caste.

We also need to understand that just because somebody does some * thing * that is not defined within their caste, it does not make them leave that caste... example... a farmer caste guy fights to defend his farm or family with a sword or bow... that does NOT make him a warrior... or a warrior that puts a bandage on a friends wound does not make him a healer.......

I was just trying to point out to all that in a try CASTE system like the one of the books, people did NOT change castes... and I think that you will find that they did not even marry outside of their castes very often... men might have slaves from many castes, but their FC was almost always from their own......
