Well, Loki... once again, to be brutal in my honesty, in MY opinion, they seem to fail very often for either one of two reasons... either there are not enough * old timers * or those with the required knowledge to properly offer reasonable tuitoring.. OR, the age old reason of those that NEED the training the MOST are the same ones that seem to think they need it the LEAST...

YES, any mentoring program is a VERY GOOD idea.. and they do work well, most of the time.... but like in most things.... it takes TWO to tango... it does no good for one to lead, if they is nobody there to follow....

There are different ways to go about a mentor program. GC had one years ago. They had a list of Free and there contact information. People could contact them on their own. Rollo and I were both on that list as I recall.
The other is that new people would be assigned a mentor like GS slaves are assigned trainers.
With the GC format it got little use. The other I think would face some resistance.

The trouble with many places in that theory Marcus (In relation to online) is the Blade itself becomes the knowledge, and if you don't like someones idea of Gor, then you kill them, or they kill you. Still happens in many places, and is pointless.
It does not need to be a required Gorean knowledge, but some of the very basics of GS interaction SHOULD be. Those basics would include knowing the Laws of various Rooms, how the place is structured, who to speak to on whatever matter, but that is more of an Orientation Programme, how many times do we have to keep repeating the Forum rules DURING the forums for example? lol the Mentoring itself could really easily be as Laroona suggested, and just those who want to learn things can ask someone.

In general, I think most Members of GS are approachable, but again, we have a varied mix of new, old, and then as Loki says, you might get half answered responses as opposed to fully answered ones. But, people can only do the best they can. What happens from there is instead of getting a "I do not know the answer to that" from someone, you might just get an assumptive answer which could be incorrect because they think they might look foolish. It is impossible to know EVERYTHING and with Me for example, unless I am constantly rereading and rereading, some things just slip to the back of the mind, and I can easily forget the most basic of things because that knowledge is never being reused.

These are the rules for the room as they stand now.
Market Bazaar
1. No kill zone. Capture zone for uncollared slaves. (see capture rules below)
2. Slaves don't need to beg entry or to leave
3. Slave greetings: Slaves would NOT * call out * greetings from the other side of a real market, so they do NOT have to greet EVERY Free that enters. They only need to greet at the appropriate time as called for by the role playing be carried out in the room.
Capture Rules
1. Any attempted capture must be post for post; no speed posting allowed. Please state intent to capture upon sighting the captee.
2. In the event of an attempted capture, the free person must post an entry, followed by a declaration of intent, followed by a minimum of three posts in the capture attempt. As stated before, they must be made post for post with the slave.
3. Any free neck slave entering the market must post a minimum of five posts; one entry, three role play posts and a final exit post to allow any who might wish to hunt her have their chance.
4. C&Ps are to be kept by the participants to allow for adjudication by the council if needed. Any slave that uses the urts or an emergency rti too many times to escape capture can be collared by any Captain on sight.
5. Limited protection may be provided by a free person to a free neck, but only if he or she is there the entire time. If not, well, "out of sight, out of mind", she is free to be hunted.
6. In the event that two men have their eyes on the capture of a slave, there are two choices. First, one can back out and concede to the other, or second, the girl is bound and a "kajira canjellne" is declared. The two men fight an adjudicated three to five post, standard GS fight rules, battle with the winner getting possession of the slave.

I think the last few times we discussed this, we agreed that it is generally bullshit if a Free goes and does that because a slave can be punished or killed for it.
However, we have no control over what a Free does, so it is up to their own personal Codes, Respect, Honour, or whatever term you wish to classify, in how they choose to interact. People should take the responsabilities onboard and set examples for others to follow, and Multi Chatting like that (In Chat Rooms as I know many talk on IM's and that is not really considered RP Gorean interaction) is disrespectful.

it would seem to ebi it is a matter of personal commitment, and the willingness to abide by the rules set in place
most know who are guilty of this type of behavior and treat them accordingly
issue is tho as ebi sees it enough of the type of responses stated by Mistress Laroona and a slave would begin to feel as if all her hard work is all for naught, and may in fact just stop trying so hard.
