The first topic is a carry over from a week ago or so... so here it is.... ** CLIQUES or groups of ppl trying to take over or force their opinions or rules on the rest ??? Well how do we deal with this do we get it all out in the open who are the cliques and who are the war camps and have a great big discussion on it? **

Kyoto~~~ Wooo, big topic. I don't know that there is anyway to really get it out in the open without seeming to be attacking anyone. Seems like people who get in a clique like that get very defensive when it's brought up.

The problem comes when those that * group * together like this come to think that * THEIR * ideas or way or the ONLY way to do things... and when they are not open or forth coming in their dealing with others... to snipe or harrass or undermine those that don't think the same.....

Kayla~~~ Well personally I think cliques are fine untill they become a problem with the site as a whole... the Castes themselves are cliques... the Tarnsmen, the Warriors the slaves the Healers and so forth.. I know I personally promote unity amoung the FreeWomen for online We are few and far between but when these cliques become "war camps" and tear at Our Home then I think they should be brought forward and dealt with openlly

Kyoto~~~ The trouble is, this could get to the point where it becomes very divisive, causing people to forget those that are friends in favor of supporting someone else. It just makes more sense to open up and just follow your heart.

The thing that I would see as a potential problem is if someone were to support another's case more out of loyalty than true agreement. There's nothing wrong with having your own oppinion or with disagreeing with someone you call friend.

Kyoto~~~ I agree, if you are friends with someone, it is ok to disagree, the trouble is when people forget to say things in the open.
Mandi~~~ Agreeing with Lemuel about a grievance procedure, but wonders how to make one work. When We have to deal with these characters and try to talk here, it gets even worse. I think it is up to each individual to find a frequency to communicate on. But sometimes that will take months to do while things get even further FUBAR.
Kayla~~~ And some disagreeing just to stir the pot...LOL... I have been known in a Forum to take a an opposite veiw than My own just to get a conversation going... but I have seen others do it just to start trouble or make some one uncomfortable...
Mandi~~~ Aye, Kyoto. I, for one, start feeling daft when all the talk is in pm or on Q or elsewhere and I'm in here talking to Myself with eight or nine icons on the screen at the bottom. I should just leave at that point because there is no point to be here then.
Lemuel~~~ ~shrugs~ It depends on what You mean by "in the open" Kyoto. If You mean it should be dealt with directly by those involved, I would tend to agree. If You mean that dirty laundry should be aired in public, I wouldn't.

Mandi~~~ Lemuel. We sometimes forget that there are all sorts of rooms besides alcoves around here and they could be used more creatively to set a place where things can get done without being aired in public. Or even switch to email or something else entirely different.

Mandi~~~ There are, however times when it is annoying to be slammed in pm by Persons too chicken to roleplay it in the open, and it is distracting. And Noone else can see what is going on. And balance is hard to achieve when One is distracted or angry. I think that r/t anger doesn't belong in here, except in small doses.
Rollo the Ax~~~ The *rub * comes when things that could and SHOULD be dealt with in private, are pushed into the limelight...either by design or lack of thought, or once again, because of some hidden agenda.... this the sort of CRAP that has no place in a room where those there SAY that they are honorable !!! That is where MOST of the trouble comes from....I think....

So the basic idea of cliques or clubs or whatever you call them is something we CAN'T do away with completely... BUT, I think that EVERYBODY should leave their * baggage * at the door, and come into GS with an open mind and open heart.... Come here to have FUN and enjoy ourselves... when walking through the door becomes a pain in the ass, WHY do it ?????

The mount of the Wagon Peoples, unknown in the northern hemisphere of Gor, is the terrifying but beautiful kaiila. It is a silken, carnivorous, lofty creature, graceful, long-necked, smooth-gaited. It is viviparous and undoubtedly mammalian, though there is no suckling of the young. The young are born vicious and by instinct, as soon as they can struggle to their feet, they hunt. It is an instinct of the mother, sensing the birth, to deliver the young animal in the vicinity of game. I suppose, with domesticated kaiila, a bound verr or a prisoner might be cast to the newborn animal. The kaiila, once it eats its fill, does not touch food for several days.

The earlier books stated that kaiila did not exist in the northern hemisphere but this was later changed as the Red Savage in the Barrens have kaiila. The two varieties are very similar. The southern kaiila are used by the Wagon Peoples as mounts. It is a silken, lofty, and graceful animal. It is long necked, smooth gaited, and carnivorous. It is mammalian but doesn't suckle its young. The young are born vicious and can hunt as soon as they struggle to their feet. The mother's instinct is to deliver the young near game. Once a kaiila eats its fill, it won't eat for several days. They are extremely agile and can easily outmaneuver a high tharlarion. They require less food than a tarn. They normally stands about twenty to twenty-two hands at the shoulder. They can cover as much as six hundred pasangs a day. Its head bears two large eyes, one on each side, and the eyes are triply lidded so it can travel in adverse weather like storms. It is most dangerous at these times and often hunts then. Some are colored black. They also have long, triangular tongues, long ears and four rows of fangs. They are trained to avoid the thrown spear.

Issues concerning the slaves

Stavros~~~ The issue was only for the Free Men to discuss the notes from the slave meetings that's all... Review their topics of discussion and see if we can potentially come to a resolution on them...

That to could be done if enough were interested in it... but just what good or how many changes would come from it remains a question to also address....another point is that the slave class or discussion is a chance for the girls to * blow off stream * among themselves or have a good rant and rave about just what is bugging them.... to digg too deeply into this might just make them LESS open or willing to get things off their chests.....
