Asellus~~~ *waiting to see if any roll-over topics exist before asking Her question*

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *Okay to start things off, and this will be covered quickly.* Changes or things that need to be said about the upcoming Festival.

Lemuel~~~ ~listening for the first topic, My eyes wander to the sweet meat beside Me, her silks lying across her widely parted thighs, pert nipples erect - lamplight caressing her features~

Kayla~~~ Can We get an update from the girl jacia on where things stand...?

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Lets keep greetings from now on to whispers...It makes editing easier on the first girl...*S*

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ ~looking up shyly to Him.. noticing His gaze upon the girl.. the hair on the nape of neck standing up.. thighs parting wider under His appraising eye.. she listens as Master Durst speaks and looks to her sis, jacia~

jacia{GS}~~~ ~ears perk up sharply from hearing her name called by the beautiful Mistress Kayla~

Ceredigawn Durst 19:22:53 CST

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ I know that jas, has some things as well...The Festival was moved to another weekend as well, right?

jacia{GS}~~~ ~gets up upon all fours..red silk clinging to luscious form as she clears her throat a lil and grins~

jacia{GS}~~~ jaci heartling sevvie has been working very hard on the announcement page *S* upon it are all the details One might wish to know bout contests and games *G* and this is located at the following *G*

jacia{GS}~~~ the Festival was bumped up to one believes March 22, 23, and 24..a friday saturday and sunday :)

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ ~listening~

aye Master Durst.. the Slave Master wished for it to be a three week period which made it the following weekend from March 22- March 24, in order to place the link to the page that sevda did with the announcement of some of the activities to take place, in various search engines.. He said it would take a lil time for that to happen..

Kayla~~~ Can that link be posted on the main message boads?

jacia{GS}~~~ will do Mistress :)

Kayla~~~ ~smiling as I listen to the two girls that have been working so hard....

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ the link that jacia posted, is posted as well in this month's issue of the Tavern Tattler

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *Looking over the announcement page, liking everything that He sees.* and that is going to posted on the boards soon right?

Gornt~~~ can the link be posted on the Board, I am not at My home puter now

Kayla~~~ AS far as help needed ~looking to jasma and then jacia~ are Yall in need of more voluntters? and if so what areas? ...

jacia{GS}~~~ Mistress Kayla did we decide to have judges for the poetry/song contest or no? :)

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ ~**listens wistfully...not being able to attend**~

Lemuel~~~ ~nodding as I look over the scheduled events~

Didn't Sabre say something about posting invitations on other boards as well?

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *smiling at the girls that have been hard at work*

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ the Slave Master wishes it to be posted to as many Gorean boards around.

aye Mistress.. this one feels that there's still a need of a Committee.. to perhaps do judging on various of the contests.. and she feels that this needs to be an area where the Free are involved..

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Aye Lemuel...that will be done as well..

jacia{GS}~~~ ~*G* ~ post now on the board

Kayla~~~ I belive the Council has decided that it would be best to submit to Council email as before... ~looking to jasma~ right?

A person would do the poem, dance song in the Tavern... C&P the performance to the Council and the Council will vote as a whole *S*

Lemuel~~~ ~nodding as I hear the Advisor's answer~

jacia{GS}~~~ worx for jaci Mistress :)

Kayla~~~ I do remember

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ that's how it was done in the past Mistress.. aye.. a girl believes that may work out for the best too.. ~smiling softly~

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ jacia.. will you as well be able to post to the other boards?

jacia{GS}~~~ will do jas :)

jacia{GS}~~~ thank you sis..jaci will get the SD and SI boards

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Alright..I think that about covers that...*L*

Odin VS Priest-Kings

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Any new topics for tongiht?

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ ~smiling softly as Mistress speaks and listening to Master Durst call for new topics.. waiting to hear Mistress Asellus's question~

Asellus~~~ *Looking up, She grins* This has only been a passing thought here and there, and it may require a simple answer, but I must know.....if in the books is there ever any mention of a "Wodin" or "Odin"....sounds seemingly religious and I always thought the Priest Kings were the so-called "religion" of Gor, so to speak. Can someone clarify?

SholGar~~~ ~listening~

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *Eyebrows raise, and He looks to jas, and Lemuel, for any quotes*

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ Mistress Asellus, the people of Thorvaldsland worship other gods than the priest kings...much like Scandinavians and the Norse mythology ~**grins**~ Maurauders was one of ja's favorite books. ja can get it and perhaps find a quote if you'd like.

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ Master Rollo uses the term Wodin.. but in Marauders a girl does remember them using Odin for those of the North reverred Odin and not the Priest Kings, if this one remembers correctly.. ~looking to Master Lemuel~

Kayla~~~ in Marauders Odin was spoken of.... I remember Asellus

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ I remember that as well, having read that this summer...

Asellus~~~ *laughing* Indeed? Shame on Me for failing to remember since I've even read Marauders! I know Rollo uses it mostly and that Odin was a Norse mythological character in earthern terms. This clears up much. *listening*

Lemuel~~~ From "Marauders of Gor" p.39

“Praise be to Odin!” he cried.

Then he with his ax, with a single swing, splattering blood on the sheets of gold, cut the head from the body of the High Initiate of Kassau, and leaped, booted, to the height of the very altar of the temple itself.

Asellus~~~ Please supply Us with the quote, ja'dain. *smiling*

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ Standing on the broken fragments of the circle, Ivar Forkbeard cried out, his ax, lifted, and his left hand, too, "Praise Odin!"

Marauders of Gor, page 48

Asellus~~~ So does Odin equal the Priest Kings? And am I to assume that Wodin is not correct, as Rollo uses?

Cernus~~~ thinking,What knowledge there be in this room

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ Ahhh...beaten to it while leafing through the book

~**chuckles**~ That was the one ja was thinking of. Thanks, Master Lemuel and jaz.

SholGar~~~ and fine kajira reside here as well Cernus...

Lemuel~~~ ~S~ I think "Wodin" is an alternate spelling, Lady Asellus.

Asellus~~~ Thanks, Lemuel and jas. *grins*

Kayla~~~ Woodin was another name for Odin and I think that Rollo is using some user license with the term *S*

Asellus~~~ *chuckling* Not that I'm saying the Captain is wrong! *grins*

Lemuel~~~ "Odin, also known as Woden or Wotan, was the chief god of Germanic mythology, the son of BOR and grandson of BURI."

from "The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Mythology" p.216

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ Found another one.

Kassau is the seat of the High Initiate of the north, who claims spiritual sovereignty over Thorvaldsland, which is commomly taken to commence with the thinning of the trees northward. This claim, like many of those of initiates, is disputed by few, and ignored by most. The men of Thorvaldsland, on the whole, I knw, while tending to respect Priest-Kings, did not accord them special reverence. they held to old gods, and old ways.

Pg 25-25 of Marauders.

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ Oden is the "master" god in the Norse mythology as well, Master Lemuel...but then again...all those regions are not *too* far from one another.

Lemuel~~~ ~nods at ja'~ Aye, I found the quote in the "Nordic" section of the book.

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ Mmmnnnn...much like die-hard vikings did back when Christianity was spreading, Mistress Asellus. They held their blot-rites at Midwinter, their offerings to Frey and Freya for crops and fertility, some gifts for Tor...etc etc

Asellus~~~ *smiling appreciatively at the provided information*

Lemuel~~~ ~grins at Lady Asellus~ I don't think the Priest-Kings give an urt's anus what We worship as long as We don't break Their technology restrictions. ~G~

BladeBane's jadain~~~ ~**nods in agreement with Master Lemuel and giggles at the reference**~

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *Listening to Lem. and then to ja'.* All makes sense to Me now.

Asellus~~~ Ohhhh! *enlightened smile both at Lemuel and at ja'dain*

So, Goreans, despite the fear of the Blue Flame Death, do defy the Priest Kings' will by revering other gods. Interesting...

Asellus~~~ *Nodding respectfully at Lemuel and in awe of the Caste He follows*

I can certainly understand, knowing the trade You practice. *sober nods as She then glances at Ceredigawn*

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *Seeing the glance that He gets from Asellus, knowing that She knows all to well about His father.* Not a line I am gonna cross..thats for sure.

Traveling to the Cities of Dust

Asellus~~~ Can I ask My next question, Ceredigawn?

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Aye Lady..Ask away..*LOL*

Asellus~~~ I was thinking about the City of Dust. I hear people speaking of death on Gor and the body travelling to the City of Dust, but I never understood if this is an actual city? Or is it more.....metaphysical....like a Gorean Afterlife?

Lemuel~~~ ~scratching head~ I think it is more like a metaphysical thing - not an actual place.

calia{G}~~~ ...climbing upon strong thighs ~* slave melts close.....

her curious eyes roaming about....listening...~*

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ That is what I was thinking Lem. however I haven't read all the books so I was not sure about the city of Dust either...Not sure is The City of Dust was mentioned in the books..any quotes on that?

Kayla~~~ aye I too think that is like heaven... maybe a place but not of Gor... a place of the beyound ~smiles~

Lemuel~~~ "Even now I can remember the letter to the last word. I think I will carry its simple, abrupt message burned into the cells of my brain until, as it is elsewhere said, I have returned to the Cities of Dust." Tarnsman of Gor p.17

Cernus~~~ Cities of Dust,be they not at the base of the Sardar Mountains?

Lemuel~~~ ~shaking head~ Nay Cernus, but All that enter the Sardar are likely to end up in the Cities of Dust

Lemuel~~~ "Returned from the Cities of Dust," gasped the warrior.

"No," I said, "I am a living man, as you."

"Better you had gone to the Cities of Dust," said Thorn. "You are cursed by the Priest-Kings."

from "Outlaw of Gor" p.61

Asellus~~~ *Biting Her lip, trying to slow down so that jasma can keep up*

What of the City, then? I liked the quote, Lemuel, though I am kind of lost reading it since I have not read that particular book. Tarl has "returned" to the Cities of Dust? *confused*

Gornt~~~ I think it is an expression M'Lady,

cities of Dust I do not think is a literal place but an idea

Lemuel~~~ ~shaking head~ No, returned from the Cities of Dust.

In other words, "risen from the dead"

Cernus~~~ perhaps it could be another term for dying???

SholGar~~~ ~listening~

Cernus~~~ Lemuel, could be recovered form a near death situation??

Lemuel~~~ ~nods~ Journeying to the Cities of Dust is another term for dying. When Tarl Cabot was returned to earth by the Priest-Kings I guess everyone thought He had died.

Cernus~~~ nods at Lemuel...aye

Asellus~~~ *Nodding* I get it now, Lemuel. I never knew He returned to earth until I started reading Outlaws. I haven't finished that book and haven't picked it up in a while, but I am close to the end.

Earth origins

Cernus~~~ May I ask a question of the learned ones in this forum

Lemuel~~~ ~nodding to Cernus~ Aye, all questions are welcome.

Cernus~~~ Thank you...I am not that far into the books, only read the 10,My question, is how did the Norse diety arrive on Gor,was from the ships??

Gornt~~~ I am just starting #1, Cernus, so do not feel bad

Lemuel~~~ ~grins~ I imagine that the Torvaldslanders brought Their gods with them from earth, Cernus.

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ As far as ja knows, Master Cernus, there is nothing in the books to indicate *exactly* where the Norseish religion came from...but this *was* Norman's fantasy...and according to him, many of the people of Gor originated from Earth....so it would be logical to assume that it arrived in that manner. People brought their beliefs with them.

Cernus~~~ Aye Blade thank you

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ ~**smiles to Master Cernus**~ It's just ja....BladeBane is one's master.

Asellus~~~ One would think, though, that other than bringing ~ahem~ "booty" from the earth to make Gorean slaveflesh, the earth raiders would bring other things from earth as well.....any mentions of Gorean items acquired from earth? I believe they acquired a few staple products....

Cernus~~~ looks at His and ses her interest in the conversation ...tis good

Asellus~~~ *Her brain working faster and grinding out even more questions....trying to slow down and listen to the answers*

Lemuel~~~ ~nods to Asellus~ I believe it mentions coffee as being a likely import from earth in "Assassins" or one of the other books.

aandra{Cernus}~~~ *eyes looking up, her face glowing at His attention, lips curve up smiling wider...... listening intently to the room*

Asellus~~~ *dry glance at Gornt*

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ ~**nods as she hears Master Lemuel**~

jaz found a couple quotes mentioning blackwine and chocolate.. about their Earth origin, this in no way means that these are the only two items that have an Earth origin. Just two that she typed the quotes too.. As well as perhaps to dispell the mispelling of the word being spelled as blackwyne, which in the books this one has came across it's spelled blackwine.

"What is that I smell?" I asked.

"Blackwine," said she, "from the Mountains of Thentis."

I had head of black wine, but had never had any. It is drunk in Thentis, but I had never heard of it being much drunk in any of the other cities.

Assassin of Gor, page 106

"Actually," I said to Elizabeth, "this is very rare. Thentis does not trade the beans for black wine. I have heard of a cup of black wine in Ar, some years ago, selling for a silver eighty-piece. Even in Thentis black wine is used commonly only in High Caste homes."

"Perhaps it's from Earth?" she asked.

"Originally, doubtless beans were brought from Earth," I said, "much as certain other seeds, and silk worms and such, but I doubt very much that the ship I saw last night had in its cargo anything as trivial as the beans for black-wine.

Assassin of Gor, page 107

--------

"This is warmed chocolate," I said, pleased. It was very rich and creamy.

"Yes, Mistress," said the girl.

"It is very good," I said.

"Thank you, Mistress," she said.

"Is it from Earth?" I asked.

"Not directly," she said. "Many things here, of course, ultimately have an Earth origin. It is not improbable that the beans from which the first cacoa trees on this world grown were brought from Earth."

"Do the trees grow near here?" I asked.

"No, Mistress," she said. "We obtain the beans, from which the chocolate is made, from Cosian merchants, who, in turn, obtain them in the tropics."

Kajira of Gor

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ ~fingers flying over the rence as she tries to keep up with the conversations~

Paga/Sul-Paga/Hangover Remedies

Gornt~~~ one site I was on they acquired Stolychnya vodka

I liked that one

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *Tossing a whisper to Gornt.* paga is kinda the gorean version of vodka...

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ Sul-paga is distilled from suls which are like potatoes on Earth...thus the likeness to vodka.

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Actually stronger..but Gorean Men can hold there liquor..At least Us builders can..

Gornt~~~ thanks you, I shall remember that next time My pet serves Me

Cernus~~~ laughs, been on gor for over a year, still cannot acquire a taste for paga, good Gorean ale

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ MMMnnnnn...true, Master Durst...kinda like vodka on steroids...but then all paga is strong from what ja's understood.

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ Sul paga is, when distilled, though the Sul itself is yellow, as clear as water. The Sul is a tuberous root of the Sul plant; it is a Gorean staple. The still, with its tanks and pipes, lay within the village, that of Tabuk's Ford, in which Thurnus, our host, was caste leader.

"Excellent," said my master, sipping the Sul paga. He could had been commenting only on the poetency of the drink, for Sul paga is almost tasteless. One does not guzzle Sul paga. Last night one of the men had held my head back and forced me to swallow a mouthful. In moments things had gone black, and I had fallen unconscious. I had awakened only this morning, ill, miserable, with a splitting headache, chained with the other girls.

Slave Girl of Gor, page 134

"Sul paga!" demanded Thurnus. Sul paga, as anyone knew, is seldom available outside of a peasant village, where it is brewed. Sul paga would slow a tharlarion. To stay on your feet after a mouthful of Sul paga it is said one must be of the peasants, and then for serveral generations. And even then, it is said, it is difficult to manage. There is a joke about the baby of a peasant father being born drunk nine months later.

Slave Girl of Gor, page 414

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ good quotes jas...and Aye..sul paga is a strong drink indeed...what is the diff. between paga, and sul paga?

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ A grain based alcohol, fermented from sa-tarna grain. Served in a three footed bowl or a horn as in Torvaldsland. Normally served warm, slightly golden in colour. It sometimes symbolizes physical love. Similar to sour-mash liquor in the way it's produced. (Paga sa-Tarna which translates to: Pleasure of the Life Daughter)

I decided, if worst came to worst, that I could always go to a simple Paga Tavern where, if those of Tharna resembled those of Ko-ro-ba and Ar, one might, curled in a rug behind the low tables, unobtrusively spend the night for the price of a pot of Paga, a strong, fermented drink brewed from the yellow grains of Gor's staple crop, Sa-Tarna, or Life- Daughter. The expression is related to Sa-Tassna, the expression for meat, or for food in general, which means Life-Mother. Paga is a corruption of Pagar-Sa-Tarna, which means Pleasure of the Life-Daughter. It was customary to find diversions other than Paga in the Paga Taverns as well, but in grey Tharna the cymbals, drums and flutes of the musicians, the clashing of bangles on the ankles of dancing girls would be unfamiliar sounds.

Outlaw of Gor, page 74

I liked paga warm. One felt it so much the sooner.

Raiders of Gor, page 100

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Ah...good questions..and even better answers...

Lemuel~~~ ~grins~ Regular paga is distilled from sa-tarna, sul-paga is distilled from suls and is stronger. I always thought of regular paga as more of a rye whisky than vodka Myself

marissa{HoS}~~~ paga: a grain-based, distilled hard liquor akin to whiskey, served hot, usually served in a footed bowl Sa-Tarna Paga (Usually just called paga) - It is brewed from the grain of sa-tarna, it is similar to the earthen whiskey and it symbolizes physical love (lust).a heady, distilled grain alcohol, served hot in a footed bowl (also called sa-paga) things you need: footed bowl how to serve: fill the footed bowl at the fire pit, kneels at the Masters feet, offer it up. sul-paga. an alcohol made from suls and akin to vodka. this is the lumpy paga. Served from a goblet It is brewed from the sul.

Sul paga: is a clear, lumpy drink, very strong, and its similar to earthen vodka. This is also symbolic of physical love. alcoholic beverage made from suls (similar to potatoes); akin to vodka, served in a footed bowl. it is a lumpy drink. things you need: goblet how to serve: fill the goblet at the fire pit, kneel at the Masters feet, offer it up.

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ ~lifting eyes up and smiling in thanks to Master Durst, before lowering eyes to concentrate on the notes once more~

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *looking to jas, and smiling at her.* Thank you sweet one..

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ ~listening to marissa~

there's no quotes supporting that sul paga is lumpy sis.. the quote states it's as clear as water.. ~smiling softly~

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Aye...I see now...Well I think that clears up Gorean alcohol..*L* Any other topics tongiht?

Gornt~~~ all I know is I want My sul paga ice cold

SholGar~~~ how about Gorean pain killers and hangover treatments...~L~

Kayla~~~ marissa where are you quoting from dear?

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ You would have to talk to Healer about that...

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ Mmmnnn...ja thinks the kanda leaf can be used as a number in small doses, Master SholGar....or what that another type...? ~**is uncertain all of a sudden**~

Lemuel~~~ ~grins~ Well, there is kanda leaves. Chewing them will leave One feeling no pain.

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ You are right ja' I have chewed on a small piece before for a headache...It works well..

marissa{HoS}~~~ it was among the information that one has gathers Mistress she will locate where she got if from tonight

Kayla~~~ LOL.... There are many pain killers Sholgar... I have read of no hangover cures though I have some suggestions

calia{G}~~~ *~ mouthing softly~* leaning toward Master Sholgar..

Cernus~~~ I never remember reading of any Gorean with a hangover

Lemuel~~~ ~S~ One must be careful with kanda leaves as they are addicting..

BladeBane's ja`dain~~~ Wish they had those in rt, Master Durst...migaine's a killer...

Gornt~~~ hangovers on Gor?

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Aye ja'..It would be nice

Lemuel~~~ ~BG~ The best thing for curing a hang-over is more paga.

SholGar~~~ Aye..I do remember kanda leaves...they have many purposes...

Kayla~~~ they also are deadly... kanda should only be used with a Physician's guidence

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ In Mercenaries of Gor, Tarl Cabot and Hurtha both woke up with a hangover, but a girl don't remember them taking anything for it..

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Aye Lem. *chuckling* Sabre will tell Ya that...

SholGar~~~ I never admitted a hangover..but I have sure felt them. ~L~

Kayla~~~ LOL... Lemuel so Many seem to think!

Cernus~~~ lol at Lemuel

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ *Noticing that the topic has died.* Are there anymore questions..We have time for something quick..or We can call it an early night...

Ceredigawn Durst~~~ Well then I guess that is it...Thank You All for attending. This weeks forum is closed.

Kayla~~~ Thank You Ceredigwan *S* Wonderful job!

jasma{GS~FG}~~~ ~looking to make sure she's not forgotten anything said.. hearing Master Durst.. feeling the rence paper slip out of her hand landing on Master Lemuel's lap.. she reaches across and retrieves it.. a tremor courses through the girl from the warmth felt.. softly~

thank You Master Durst for moderating the forum this night and helping one increase her knowledge..

Asellus~~~ *Pine-green eyes tracing the room, wondering why things fell so silent. Appreciatively nodding to those who participated*

It was an informative forum and thank You.

calia{G}~~~ her voice gentle...~*,eyes yielding....

thank You All for allowing slaves opportunity to speak and learn ....~* ...

aandra{Cernus}~~~ ~ivory skin seeming to glow, tossing her head, moving the heavy waves back off her shoulders, His collar gleaming in the light......eyes sparkling, cheeks slightly flushed~

aandra thanks All for the greetings and welcomes that where given to this one upone her arrival ~S~

Cernus~~~ sits on furs and looks around, pleased that he came

Lemuel~~~ ~nodding to the Advisor as He calls the forum to a close~

Aye, another interesting and informative evening. Thank You, Ceredigawn.

SabreWolf's sevda~~~ was a wonderful Forum ~soft smile~

Lemuel~~~ ~jumping slightly as the first girl reaches to retreive the rence paper from My lap, a jolt running up My spine, then grinning at the girl~

SholGar~~~ good job Ceredigawn......
