Ok, we all know that the books of Gor rely on the general story of one Main Feature, that being Tarl Cabot, the great hero who seems to alter various courses of Gorean History and Cultures, wherever he goes. Now, should Tarl Cabot never have existed, but Gor still did, how do you think Gor would be? What would be happening? How would Gorean History be today? For those who have read the books, this shall be easier to think upon.

i would like to believe that things would basically be the same just without the major story line of Tarl Cabot. Instead of focusing on one (Tarl Cabot) coming from Earth, that it would had focused more on Gor itself.. still with the ships of acquisition and all.. just without Tarl's *help*

Well for one thing Tarl's Fathers City would not have be laid to waist by the Priest Kings. The Kurri may have taken more control over Gor or have defeated the Priest Kings. Mainly where ever Tarl happen have cone things may not have chanced. But if those things where meant to change then the story may have been about another man instead.

Well, again, this is theoretical, we are ignoring the fact this is a story, and focusing on the existence of Gor without the Manuscripts, which leaves things to YOUR imagination, so would Port Kar have a home stone for example? Would the Wagon Peoples have been slaughtered? Would Gor and Earth have been destroyed by the Beasts?

I would have to say the Kurri might have taken over Gor as for earth its hard to say cause earth does have weapons that are far more advanced then those of Gor. So I think Earth would defeat the Kurri if it came down to it.

So it seems pretty much that without Tarl, there would have been chaos, destruction, and in a few thousand years, with the eradication of the Priest-Kings, a world more technologically advanced than Earth. Not bad for a 1 Man army then.

Well Kayla, it had to be someone in that timeline, otherwise all other events would have gone ahead, Dietrich of Tarnburg, for example, was a great man who intervened in the War between Ar and Cos, but that was for reasons of Power Exchanges on Gor, not to save two planets at once.

Perhaps though, the PK's might have brought another to Gor to fulfill such mythological destiny, yes, but could it have been done by a Gorean? Or would it have to have been another man of Earth? I feel that is the main difference with that as the examples of Jason and Tarl coming to Gor seem to be that of "Pure" Men, who can combine the lifestyle, knowledge, and intelligence of both worlds to remain sane in the task of "saving" mankind.

I will post my thoughts I was once slave of GS and need to canvass the Captains to return as free, my time is limited and thus I cannot devote to returning as a slave... as well as other issues If the sanctions on past slaves is lifted it may help.... and I also think if the rule is there it should be consistent, not only for previous GS slaves but any previous slave

To address fyre first:
I'm not so sure the chat code would allow for the hyperchat format fyre, there are links at the bottom of GS pages though which can point to Menu's, and the coin box is explained on those pages as well. The pages are being reworked and hopefully when finished will be more navigitable for people instead of having to click through 3 or 4 links to get to what they want to read. Maybe though, the links being at the bottom of the page make them somewhat difficult to find, since you read from the top down anyway.

I don't know much about that as that rule was enforced many years ago and I was merely a visitor back then and did not follow the why's and why not's of that decision, perhaps though, it can be discussed further with the Captains if people do feel strongly enough about that, but I would assume it was to stop those that liked to switch on a regular basis, which still happens in most sites today.
What does everyone else think of that rule?

Aye Kayla, it is a good idea in "theory" to have the individual site to create more rooms and whatnot, but the expansion is only as good as the expansion of traffic, and most people found GS through poolside since that in itself is an active site. I used to sit in both Sites, ensuring My name was seen on the Who/Where of Poolside so that people might click on the link and come here. There are still a few GS members who sit in the DM site under other name's in poolside though and sometimes the odd visitor appears because of that.

Alright Kayla, let's look at a "circumstance" and using Blades capture as an example, by the old rules, he would not have been allowed back here as a Free Man would he? I am totally against those who go from Free, to slave, to Free, to slave, etc. but there are always exceptions of those who try it, and simply discover that it is not for them.

Hmmm Blade was never made a slave so the example is not a very good one.. .. the rule states once a slave always a slave unless a special decision of the Council. Which was the rule before the takeover but one of the guidelines followed by the old Council that was changed was if the slaves was a slave in GS... then they would be denied.. it it happened elsewhere and was for a short period.. a few days or weeks then they had a shot...

I, personally, am a believer that once a slave, always a slave, especially if they have been slave more than once but that does not mean I do not give them a chance to prove otherwise.
Now, as for that rule Kayla, I think that is double standards, why should one who gave their time to GS be made outcast while another not of GS gets the doubled standard of being allowed in? Surely, if one is going to be allowed in, it would make more sense to keep that member IN GS instead of depleting the numbers.

Remember, there is always bad in good and good in bad, so it is best to consider all variables before jumping ahead and starting something. You only need to look at JAG to see what can happen in storylines and they can get very messy.

a good SL would be something that would have set parts... like not so much scripts but for example... Master Knight decides that He wants to take shirin from Jarl Skullsplitter, and shirin doesn't want to go so Master Knight gets Mistress Kayla to sweet talk her way to get shirin out of Master Jarl... that's the main line... now each dose their own thing... something as simple as that can take months weeks or even hours to be RPed out

I have never taken part in a storyline and that is My personal view, which is shared by others, that storylines are pointless because they are planned, they are pre-written and the end is known before it ends. I prefer the interaction of "there and then". If I want to fight someone and kill them, I will do it there and then. If I Want to Raid someplace, I will organize it with My Brothers, not tell the other place and "plan" it. If I want to capture a slave, I will go out and do it, not ask her Masters consent. Storylines can be created "from" this, but they are inspired by on the spot initiative, and that is merely My opinion. Sometimes, storylines get too far fetched and become against the grain of what Gor is. Gor is more than merely role-playing, and GS has always had a good mix of those who have firm ties either in BDSM/Ds/Gorean lifestylers, and Roleplayers who respect the ways of Gor than merely cyber fuck or kill.
As for that described storyline, fyre, usually anyone who tampers with My property ends up in a box.

Ah, now you are talking about No Kill Raids, and that is how most online Raids are done these days, I have no problem with that, but again, you never know how that will end, you might come back injured, or without any form of catch. If you start saying, oh, I will capture her, and her, and you capture her and injure him, and then you can come back and get them... it is pointless.
Raiding, was discussed a few months back at a Men only meeting, to which only a few turned up, and the idea of Raids was encouraged, but it would need to be discussed with the Captains again, and the general consensus was that if we open ourselves up to Raid Rules, because of the lack of activity, we would end up with no slaves.

Now of course the first problem will be realism in the Storyline.. it is hard to get into Port Kar or Ar to steal a slave much less a FW.. and somebody is bound to call foul *ss* and feelings get hurt and people get mad.. ~breaks out in song~ Lets call the whole thing off ~grins~ joking but it is a possibility of happening

To gain calliope and shirin, I was given a task, I had to replace them with a slave, so I went out, I challenged for tavelia, and I won, and she ended up later being sold to MDK.
Perhaps more tasks like this could be set to GS members, it doesn't have to be over the capture of a slave, but it would mean a story between them, and they would then have to come up with a way to make it happen, without other peoples RP permission, or whatever.
A Tarnsman's first mission on Gor, for example, is to capture a slave of an enemy city...

Well, I like what has been done about posting when we are on.
shirin made a good point earlier - if no one is in a room, no one will come in, most people "flock" like sheep. It is like a Disco or something, you go in, there is no one on the dance floor, so people wait till some start to fill it up, then they go dance...
What we need, is for people to sit in the rooms if they can when online, just refresh every 10 mins or so if there is no one around, but to make the odd post now and again, just incase someone does come in. I used to sit in private doing this, but of course, people did not see Me in a room, so unless they bothered to message Me to see if I was still there, it didn't work too good.

Aye zen, ask about the "possibility" and also ask about the reason GS is no longer included on the poolside list. I can't really go ahead and ask for things to be changed without speaking to Rollo or SG but at least if we know what can and cannot be changed, interface wise, they can say if they want the change or not.
