Jarl Thorrn, there is some precedent for abandoned slaves, flicka cannot exactly remember what they are, hopefully she will never find herself in such a situation.
But flicka thinks it is something like, if a Master has made no contact with His collared slave for 4 hands, then the girl may petition the Council to be released from the collar.

If a slave was abandoned in GS I think one option to solve the problem would be to hold an auction. If the girl did not reach the reserve price set by the Council she would become a GS slave. If she was sold the profits could go to GS. We could get new chairs for the captains!

W/we get two different things mixed up in the discussion right now.
1st - HOW gets a slave abandoned
- a MAster´leaves GS (and cha9 at all) and leaves the slaves behind. I had that happen alerady.
- a Master may be away without contact for a long time and then the Council may declare her abandoned. The rules for the time and the procedure are written down somewhere. I forgte the exact time span, something about 3 months.
I know of a slave who waited about a yaear before she asked the Senior Captain of that time to take off her colalr.
2nd What happens with an abandoned slave .... i answered this formerly.
An auction would be greta but i´m still thinking about rules for such an auctions which can handle that vitutal money problem.

There are mayn different reasons why a slave can be abandoned, some can be very hurting.
There is no reasonable general rule about such matters. They have to be handled individually with understanding and commons sense and with caring for the slave and for the principles of GS.
Same applies for slaves who left and come back after a while. What to do will depend on ..... many things.
How did she leave, in consent and with applying to GS rules, was she a runaway slave etc . according to this there will also be individual decisons.

If an auction is done well you could do the random roller.
Who ever wins the random roller that wants the girl, then she is given to them.
That would not help GS keep tavern slaves if all the slaves were auctioned off.
But maybe a girl has to serve the tavern as a tavern slave for say three months and a yellow silk. Then she could ask to be auctioned off. But also knows she still has to serve the tavern when able.

Of cause there can always be an ostraka.
The question of interest here was how to do an auction. I´d love to sove that problem for several reasons because it could be an exciting role play but so far i thought invain about how to do it.
In all those cases the goren rules are important - after the emitons which decide if a person wants to apply.
We can not force and we do not want to force anyone to something. slaves must principally accept their role , if they don´t feel well the ywill stay away, not the desired solution of a situation

It is like Jarl Thorrn and Master Hunter said, there are different situations. Each case would be different.
A girl can think of a scenario:
a slave is abandoned, for a period of time, say 3 months she is in a GS collar, serving the Tavern, after that time she is available for a Master to petition the Council to purchase her.
flicka is of the opinion that this should be the case for Tavern owned slaves as well, that once they have attained their yellow or red silks (Council decision on which) then they should be available to be purchased by a pledged Master of Gorean Shores.
Slaves need to know that one day, and not in the distant future, they will be owned by a Master Who hopefully will cherish them and enable them to grow in their submission.

To make the idea a reality takes a bit of forethought and planning, but there and enough ideas flying around the room that W/we could make it an event and something worth remembering.

That is a special protection a Master can give a slave at an evening while He is present in the capture room. It weas also valid for Free Women before They had allowance to be in the Tavern.
That is no collar, just a clearly limited protection from mercy of that Free Man.

As long as a free neck slave stays in non-capture rooms she is not in any danger, bésdies that it may be boring for her.
No on forces a slave to accept gs-collar when she is not in a capture room.

~laughing~ ruby, it is a red drink, made with pretend flavours, lots of numbers for colouring and it used to be thought to make children hyper -active. But as Master Hunter says that myth has been debunked, it looks like flicka will have to swap to Red Bull.
