Roleplaying *thoughts*

Welcome to the forum, all normal rules apply, yadda, yadda, etc.
The first topic I have is:
"How to roleplay thoughts? When does a thought invoke an action? Can we really read one's thoughts?"

Asellus~~~ What do you mean, Lemuel? *trying to follow the topic* Roleplay your thoughts? As in....something like I just did with the asterisks to set off what I'm thinking as clarification?
jasma{LB}GSFG~~~ a girl remembers when she first became a slave and she was told.. that for a slave.. posting thoughts was the same thing as an action and she should be careful what her thoughts were unless she wanted to be punished..
although.. in her opinion.. at times it's hard to not post a thought.. even if she still does try not to do it.. not always successfully though..

Is that appropriate roleplay?
Asellus~~~ That can get a little "tongue in cheek" there, posting your thoughts as if to hide something you would LIKE to say that would be disrespectful to say straight out. Of course, online, that line is thin, if it exists at all. If you have a thought/opinion you don't want known...don't say it; don't *"roleplay"* it.

her eyes are down so a Free can not see a physical reation to her *thoughts* but hse has posted an insult none the less... does the Free react or is that called reading ones thoughts and thoughts are not "actions"
jasma{LB}GSFG~~~ one does feel that there is a real thin line and for a slave it does need to be watched extremely close..
for a Free person.. it's not a slave's place to say.. they're Free..

Lemuel~~~ ~S~ I think I agree with Asellus, if the slave didn't want the Master/Mistress to know what she was thinking she shouldn't post it. Posting something like Your example is likely to get her whipped, Kayla.

one feels that it should be still responded to.. but that is her opinion.. *nibbling bottom lip.. still thinking on it*
Kayla~~~ I agree and bring this up because I witnessed this at another site and was appalled that the admin upholded the notion of not acting on thoughts... Seems like a veiled way to insult people by making a rule that thought posts were not actionable

Asellus~~~ A thought, even online, shouldn't be KNOWN for it is still a thought. And online, anything you post aloud, even if bracketed by asterisks, tildes, etc....is STILL technically KNOWN. So if you want to keep your thoughts hidden....don't type them out. Keep them where they belong--in your head.

Lemuel~~~ ~nods~ And I would say that the consequences to the Free could be equally dire. If a FW posted something like that She might end up face-stripped, if a FM posted something like it He might end up in the pit facing a naked blade.

Kayla~~~ but we use thought posts all the time in roleplay Asellus *ss*
Like posting "watching the handsome Man walk in".. the action is the *watching* but the thought of a Man being handsome is only a thought and so thoughts are important in many ways to set a tone and to roleplay well *ss*
Asellus~~~ Oh, sure. *nodding* And you know me...I'm all for colorful adjectives. Go for it if it's not outright rude or offensive or a sorry attempt to veil an insult.
Lemuel~~~ ~S~ Ah, but that's a little different, because some thoughts can be read through body language...
I guess its just wise not to post derogatory thoughts. ~S~

it's a matter of what the thought is.. the Man being handsome.. *gazing to her Owner and moaning softly from the nearness of Him to her*.. may be seen as a thought to what the FW or the slave feel.. yet.. it's different than saying.. *the pompous ass*.. the example.. or something as *rude*.. *tasteless*.. *mean*.. etc..
Kayla~~~ No it is not but But it was an example of a thought and one that I see Men react to when a slave posts it.. they will preen at this "thought" ...LOL

jasma{LB}GSFG~~~ yet if that is the case.. then slaves will feel that if they post thoughts.. then they can not be reprimanded or punished... and a girl feels that no slave should get into a *comfortable* zone such as that, or they may be in for a rude awakening if going to another place..

If someone says to me "I think you're a disgusting maggot" I might pop them in the face with My fist, does that mean I should react the same to a compliment? No, ~shaking head~ it doesn't follow at all. If someone posts a *thought* they have to be prepared to deal with the possible consequences - good or bad.
Asellus~~~ And I would go so far as to add...no FW should get into a comfortable zone, either...

To post a thought, means O/one wanted to say something but thinks it might be ok to think it rather than to say it, when in all actuality they are saying it.
Posting a thought is no differnt than posting it as if you were saying it.

1.. Will Master in anyway be displeased with His girl?
2.. is what she saying important?
3.. will it be seen as respectful?
4.. can her thoughts be misinterpretted badly if posted?
and if she comes up with a yes.. she either changes the way it's posted.. or is quiet..
