If the question is about a release from a collar......well.......that is a moral and ethical question......but not a Gorean one. A slave is the PROPERTY of the Master. It is HIS choice to release or not to release. Fair or unfair is not theissue. Period.

If a slave is truly not happy in her collar and begs to be released, then how is it we can be worried about the whole "Gor is not fair" issue when the slave will just fade away. At least if she is released, she has the option of remaining in her home and finding a place to be happy.

This question is a classic example of a two edged sword problem..... on one hand it IS Gorean for any Master to NOT take into account the will of a slave...He decides, she obeys.....end of story..... but on the other hand, if the slave has some reason for her wish for release, will the relationship not die if she is forced to remain where she hates it ???

its a hard question, for every Master/slave relationship is different online, there are some that take the vt relationship to rt...and many times that works for those, so even to use the rt info makes it a difficult one, no one is required to give rt info, but then again, that flows with each individual relationship

The * overall * question is as you say, Deirdre... both moral and ethical.....
In practice there are many times when a Master would be remiss to just release a slave if she says that she wants it done, IF he is trying to teach her a point of her submission...... but if he refuses out of simple greed or anger, then in MY opinion, he has NOT fulfilled his role as a Master, and has become little more than just a horny little geek that wants to keep his * toy * to play with....... in such cases, I feel that he does NOT deserve the right or support of others in his actions...

If it is ethical, moral, fair, or equitably ..... it doesn't matter at times.....
