To me it appears that there are not enough spam filters in place
I know that everything is downloaded and uploaded to GaryM’s server that also costs him money, as I am sure the spamming adds to his costings.
Not withstanding someone having to go in and clean out these stupid posts who not only post open virus links to porn etc but also muck up the threads and push thread to the top and current threads are lost, and people have to wade through a lot of crap to get there
There is an alternate that could be used and be under total control of GS Council, as well as alleviate the abuse of the current board.
This is not the first time we of GS have had board problems
There is a ready made FREE board that could be considered using, that can be divided into closed and open sections, such as one section for Council, one section for Free another for restrictions etc.
If any want to look at this board please ask and I will post the link

He must be busy as I also purchased a 12 for 1 deal a few weeks ago, and I am still waiting for its activation but I do suggest waiting for him to reply before doing anything drastic.
There are many options for controlled forums, either free, or cheap, and even if GaryM can do something about it, it is also an option for the Council to consider having its own control over its own forum.

This is almost comical in a way, it must have been many months ago we all sat down and discussed creating a new Board because people reckoned individual accounts were being hacked, and several of us did send our links to the Council Mail. Now we are coming back to the same subject, only it is spam bots that are doing the hacking.
We definitely need a better set up forum in terms of Forum Types to improve the communication of this community, so why not just simply say fuck it, and act this time instead of wait another few months

The idea of using a * different * message board has been brought up many times... and * I * have only ONE problem with the idea... the GS message board has always been a part of the GS home page and such... I can only say that Gary M does NOT want to provide ANY link to any * outside * message board due to the fact that he says that doing so can provide hackers and trouble makers a * way in * to his Poolside ..... These are more than likely foreign creations, people who write down in English a certain code or line that will automatically register, it is known in the gaming community as an "autoer" - in games you use these hacks to make your character do the same thing over and over without touching a thing, on a forum, they register, they post, so if their English is not very good, then their overall message will not be very good.

I think this may be another one of these online manifestations, for I do not recall anything about property, only that on Companionship, a FW may raise caste to that of her Suitor, even be it high caste, and only through slavery, death, or non annual renewel, can it be legally dissolved, though there is an instance where a Free Man goes before a High Magistrate, complains that his Free Woman refuses to please him, and he terminates the contract there and then.
Anything to do with property, or whatever, is just between those two people, if they want that in their contracts, that is up to them, but commonly, the Man has already BOUGHT the woman from her family with gold, cattle, whatever, so owes her nothing.
As for the Port Kar situation, nothing is legal, so she is on her own. In the online context you can make arguments for the benefits of the slaves, but I have heard about this "going to next of kin" things, and I honestly do not remember it, might be worth getting someone to dig it up.

In that situation Deirdre, it goes by contract, if there is no mention of joint ownership on her property, then he is screwed, however, for her "Kin" to lay claim on her property is also wrong, because she is dead, thus the contract is dissolved, thus her legal ownership of property is also dissolved, the slave then becomes property of the state unless someone grabs hold of her first.

Ok Deirdre, let's say for example, a FW from the Shores gets killed, hypothetically, and logically, to put it into "claim" context, going by what is shown in the previous contractual rights, I would assume that because the property would then go into the hands of the state, in our example, The Gorean Shores, the slave would then belong to the Council unless stolen before they get a chance to step in.
