galah{RA}~~~ we all love gorean shores, just look at soooo many here this day....we need suggestions on how to bring gorean shores back to the fun place it use to be....its a problem that needs solving and can only be solved with much thinking but more importantly, doing...what can each of us do to make this a better place?

galah{RA}~~~ as slaves, its hard to make any kind of changes, but galah herself has come back from a long break away and is determined to be here, bad health and all....seems we all need to make some sacrifices
Errand Knight~~~ agres with Lemuel ...gor is not a place for argements ..that is what eartherns do. Arguements are settled quickly on gor and usually fiercly and finally. Goreans enjoy discussion and in that duiscussion they have a sense of honour..that is they respect and listen, though unlike eartherns do not find the lowest common denominator.

Master Kyoto and i are almost never online, unless it is for job searching, or the kids using the computer... ideally, family and time with real flesh and blood people should come first, but we'll always love our family here in GS, even if we aren't here as much as we'd like to be..

The last three times I have entered this Tavern, I have enjoyed Myself to a point, up to the point a Member of the Council publicly whines about twenty eight, then thirty People doing a show of hands on the Boards and complaining of the number that ARE present.
I do not come to the Tavern to hear that nonsense.
Rollo the Ax~~~ Okay, folks, like with old Harry Truman, in GS at least, the buck stops here as far as most folks think, that means that to most folks they feel that it is ole Rollo here that is held to account for ALL of GS. Why, I don't know, but at times I think that some folks hold ME responsible for EVERTHING that goes wrong. I begin to wonder if they think thing like SARS, inflation, and bad hair days are My fault too ??? LOL...LOL..
galah{RA}~~~ galahs biggest problem is time differences, her easiest time to be here would be her eve and that is when all the rest of the world is sleeping heheheheheeee heheheheheee this time of day is often hard for galah and her Master cause of appts, shopping and such

Errand Knight~~~ the fun it about the rp which is our beloved tavern ....I have come to beleive that when we extend our entertainment of that rp rather than engage in agruemnet rt discussion we at very least reduce the probability of personal attack which has no place ..and if it happens is met by the drawing of steel

galah{RA}~~~ yes penny, it is about the 2-6 am time there that is galahs eve here....there are a few others from down under that wander through but not like it use to be....like you, Master Bolt and Mistress Phen are busy now with lil ones and rt existense so they don't come often anymore....galah thinks one of the biggest problems right now is that all the council seems to be tooo busy with rt to give GS a thought, and without the council, GS lacks leadership
penny{Kyo}~~~ penny agrees, galah, and will try to urge Master Kyoto to slip in here when the rt job search can let go of him for a moment (though sending resumees and surfing placement sites for openings is a full time job)...
galah{RA}~~~ galah has seen time and time again, one captain, any one of the captains come into GS and other patrons come out of the woodwork....but what happens now when all the captains are busy with RT? galah understands that RT comes first by all means, but what will become of GS?
Errand Knight~~~ galah: that is true ..there is a disassociation between councils regular presence here and their role. I see only one member of Council here regularly. That isnt criticism, just fact
Mandi~~~ What is the fundamental (ACTUAL) meaning of the pledge in terms of what rights, privileges, tasks, or responsibilities inure to the Pledged Patron? Other than a greeting order, I would suggest that for Those not Members of the Council, there are None. This might explain some lack of commitment on the part of Some of the Free.
Also, Real Life might explain why Some are not here as frequently or for as long.
Lemuel~~~ ~S~ I try to be here every Monday night and I can commit to at least one other day during the week. It'll do My family good. They got spoiled while I was forced offline a few months back. ~G~

Errand Knight~~~ galah: I would like to see us broaden the taverns activities ..to often when there are people in the tavern we see a beautiful serve, most often a drink alone, followed by either a return to the seving furs or a hasty departure to an alcove. Havnt seen much use of the pit for games like meat catch or sparring or a host of other possible tavern activity

galah{RA}~~~ there would be alot of fun stuff that could be done, but gotta have the ppl in the tavern to do these things....galah remembers the times best when Master Rollo would throw ta grapes on the floor and make us slaves roll them with our noses to the far end of the tavern and back again, something of more interest for the slaves and entertainment for the Free, it don't get much better than that

It may be worn on or off the shoulder, with high or plunging necklines, tightly or flowingly, in halters or G-strings, or brief tunics that may be partable or wraparound. Some tunics have a disrobing loop, usually at the left shoulder, where a tug will drop the entire garment to the girl's ankles. Only in the lowest taverns do the girls serve naked. It is also common to bell paga slaves, to make them more appeasing. Most paga girls also have pierced ears now. After the defeat of Turia, ear piercing has spread throughout Gor and has become the new fashion. A parade of slaves commonly takes places in paga taverns and brothels. The paga slaves present themselves one by one, often accompanied by music, for the inspection of the guests. This allows the guests to better decide which kajira they might wish to use in the alcoves later. This may be repeated a couple times during a night so that patrons that enter later can view the kajirae.

Rollo the Ax~~~ Okay, here is an idea that you all can answer to, and give Me some feeling of if it is good or not... My personal feelings about censorship are strong, yes, even though I have to remove stuff from the board... there are rules, and I have to enforce them... Anyway, if everybody has had such a gut full of the crap on the board, should a NEW rule be added that ANY and EVERY negitive posting be removed ???? It seems like candy coating GS to Me, but hey, I am willing to try almost anything at this point....

Errand Knight~~~ in My view censorship should be based and strictly limited to removal of "flaming".. negative comment should be allowed as long as it doesnt become flaming. Having said that we should remember that goreans by nature are not negative. The first word an Earth baby learns is commonly "no" while the first word a Gorean baby learns is "yes." This reflects a very basic difference in the philosophies of earth and Gor. Earth is based upon the denial of human nature. Gor is based upon its fulfillment.

Rollo the Ax~~~ That is right, EK... perseption varies from person to person, and depends on each ones past experiences... hell TRUTH is even subjective... what is true to one, may well be only an opinion or idea to another...
penny{Kyo}~~~ Master Rollo, the world is not your fault. Each person should look within themselves every day and just get up, do their best as they move through life, and be able to nod with satisfaction at the end of the day. The rest is just garbage and should be left behind, as life moves on.
Errand Knight~~~ Rollo: I for One have never disagreed with your actions or your right, indeed responsibilty, to take them. I may have different perceptions or views at times and will state them fearlessly but hopefully with honour and respect. You are First Chair, a heavy responsibility which deserves support from all pledged here.
Lemuel~~~ As Kayla said, some posts need to bet set straight, but anyone contemplating a reply to the baords should think long and hard about what they wish to say before hitting the post button. I find it helps Me to write out what I'd like to say with ahead of time, set it aside for a while, then go back and read it to Myself before even thinking about posting it to the board. I often find a better or less offensive way to make My point.
Rollo the Ax~~~ EK, contrary to what some folks think, Rollo does NOT make every rule, or get his way on everything... like any other full captain, I get a vote.. 1 vote, and it is the will of the MAJORITY that prevails... hell, I even vote last so that My position will not possibly sway others... It just bugs the hell out of Me when folks blame others for thinking the same way...... like it is a fault or sin...

General Amnesty
Rollo the Ax~~~ Okay, here is an abstract idea. An idea ONLY, and NOT anything that may go any further than an idea... What would folks say to a general Amnesty of ALL people banned from GS for ANY reason... that would be folks that is * dead *, slaves that was FW, that kind of stuff ????? would it be a step forward, or just asking for MORE CRAP ??????

Errand Knight~~~ Rollo: that is a difficult question for any but a Council member to comment on. I am not in possession of the facts that lead to the dead one or the enslavement of the so say FW. I know that in the latter case the Council did more than thriple back flip with pike before taking its action. I must have been reluctant to take such extreme action and would have had good reason. If the reasons persist why revoke the decision, If they no longer stand or their is a change in attitude, then sure.

galah{RA}~~~ some of these ppl have gor in there hearts, and cause they made a mistake when they was new, they are no longer allowed here....say one that was slave then realized she was really a FW at heart, so she had to leave GS to be that FW she really was

Rollo the Ax~~~ EK, the Council has never ruled ppl dead or not allowed them back as FW lightly. In each case, there was much debate and decisions before each action... The whole concept is more of a " Hey, everybody can make a mistake, and here is a ONE TIME GOOD DEAL to try again, but if ya screw up again, your ass is out the door so fast, your feet won't even touch the floor " kind of thing....
galah{RA}~~~ those dead or banned could possibly come back to be given another chance? they could always be killed or banned again after the amnesty period and then they can't come back again....just a second chance for ppl, after all, we all have made some big blunders in life, rt and vt....cept for Master Knight that is hehehehehehehee heheheheeeee

I personally can see forgiving and forgetting if a mistake is made.
But I do not think forgiveness is due when any O/one purposefully and with maliciousness tried to hurt either this home or any O/one who calls this home.
For pre-meditation, the punishment is much greater than accidental. *S*
Becasue all it does is make the Council look weak, as if this house can only be if they let in everyomne regardless if they care or not.

Lemuel~~~ I disagree Paedur. I don't think it shows weakness at all. It takes great strength to step away from an argument, to let bygones be bygones...
Kayla~~~ I agree Paedur.. Somethings are not so easily forgiven and I fear will be hard for People to forget when the actions have been deliberate to hurt Us and Our Home

If the council did decide to allow this Amnesty, then I think there should be a probationary period.
Not a time to quickly judge, but whoever it is, must be on best behavior.
and I say this becasue this is a business, if this was Gor, then they would be dead, and that would be it. No coming back from the dead. LOL
