For instance, only in one book is it ever stated that a woman flew a tarn (Elizabeth Cardwell when she stole Ubar of the Skies and headed for the Sardar). I feel that women flying tarns (as the pilot) is an exception, not the rule. I will ride in a tarn basket as a passenger or behind a tarnsman. I will not pilot the tarn because I dont' believe that was a common practice on Gor.

I pointed out to her that Tarna was an agent for the Kur and that as such, the Kur and the men allowed her to "lead" a group of raiders. She was never truly in power over these men, obviously because she was quickly enslaved when her usefulness ended.
My former Panther sister believes that because of this one instance, she can be an Outlaw Woman (she is not longer a PG) and raid the seas with men...I disagree. We've argued about this a lot.
