Topic: there is very little representation of the lower castes, of their being superstitious and their beliefs in myths and legends and a lower level of education.
Why do you think it is that most choose to be of the higher castes and clans rather than the lower?
If a Free, Why did you chose the caste knowledge level you did?
If you chose a lower caste, do you add the superstitions and lower intelligence levels into your play,
or do you ignore that and behave as if you?are more educated?
How do you think it might add to or possibly take away from play for people to add that flavor into their play?

I felt the merchant caste was much more interesting and all encompassing, allowing Me to be around and be able to RP a much more varied amount of topics.
higher caste is seen to be superior in some respects, even though I dont believe so as Merchants can hire Warriors to work for them. All free need merchants to purchase goods and services
They can be more educated as merchants needs brains and the ability to use it more cleverly.

And yes, one learns from experience. However, in being a Merchant, say, One would gain vast experience with math, book-keeping and so on, but all of that in the world would never teach One say, algebra and calculus, now would it? A Builder would probably have to know geometry, I would think, biut again, not higher levels of math.

Well, perhaps the slaves might exhibit more "superstition", i. e. fear of the Priest Kings, awe of the Initiates and other higher castes, and the Free might more openly exhibit respect for the other castes and their specialized knowledge. While the Peasants beleived they were the Ox upon which Gor rests, they still were in awe nof those of higher casts, and very respectful of them. And most slave were not educated beyond whatever education they might have received before being enslaved.

sappphira, it is possible to take a companion of lower caste, provided enough money or other incentive is involved. One can even, on Rare OCCASIONS, CHANGE CASTE. However, you might wish to remember that Port Kar does not recognize Free Companionship. A Free Woman is merely the "Woman" of Her partner. Which might also affect how that relationship is role-played out, as well. And while slaves of Those of HIgher Caste might learn some of the basics of that caste, they probably wouldn't have access to a lot of the caste knowledge. Castes were very protective of their special knowledge and skills, and while slaves might do some of the basdic preparatory work for their owner, the real caste work would have to be done by the Free,. Remember, with the exception of Port Kar, slaves could not even build
buildings for their Owners.
